Acupuncture Together... Our commitment to accessible Healthcare
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used systems of healing in the world.
Acupuncture is simple, safe, and sustainable healthcare. As acupuncture has moved more
toward the mainstream in the American healthcare system it has become prohibitively
expensive for most people. This trend does not have to continue.
Acupuncture does not need to be expensive to be effective. Acupuncture in the community
setting can be part of the solution to the soaring cost of healthcare.
What is an Acupuncture Together treatment?
Acupuncture Together, or community treatments, are similar to the way acupuncture is practiced
in Asia. In our clinic we facilitate the Together clinic by offering treatments to two patients
at a time. During a Together treatment patients relax on massage tables, separated by curtains.
Appointments are one hour long and scheduled every 30 minutes. We have created a quiet and soothing
atmosphere for the patients to relax together. Treating patients together has many benefits; it is
easy for friends and family to come in together, and many patients find it comforting. The most
compelling benefit is that similar to group yoga or meditation the individual treatments are made
stronger by the collective energetic field.
Acupuncture Together makes acupuncture affordable. The price for our community clinic is on a sliding
scale from $30-$50 per treatment (initial visit additional $10). To keep the cost low, we streamline
the treatment. Rather than extensive conversations at each visit we use the traditional skills of
tongue and pulse diagnosis as the emphasis for our decisions about treatment. This is a return to the
traditional approach and very similar to the way acupuncture is still practiced in Asia.
What to expect
During your initial visit your will be given the time and privacy to discuss your health concerns in detail
($10 additional fee). We will suggest a course of treatment based on our experience with different kinds of
conditions. If you don’t come in often enough or long enough acupuncture probably won’t work for you.
The purpose of the sliding scale is to help you make that commitment.
Once we have completed the intake you will choose a table in our community space and the practitioner will
place the needles. While you rest, another patient will come in to receive treatment. When you are ready
to leave the practitioner will remove the needles and you will be on your way, refreshed and relaxed.
